Long-distance move from Myrtle Beach, SC to Las Vegas, NV

Less than one star!

New Leaf provided a binding moving estimate with the option for a full refund of the down payment if cancelled more than five days prior to the scheduled move. We were to provide an updated inventory to New Leaf within the five day cancellation period. Several attempts to update the inventory went unanswered. Only after we were past the five day cancellation period did New Leaf respond, then the cost of the move increased by 50%! New Leaf advised that a 26-foot box truck would accommodate our move. A subcontracted mover arrived five hours late on the scheduled moving date. Driver informed us that an additional truck would be needed at additional cost. At that time, several calls to New Leaf provided no explanation or assistance. Driver was rude, threatened to leave without loading his truck. Finally he was able to load everything, however multiple items were damaged. Would not recommend using this company!

DO NOT USE!

Its hard for me to think of how this moving company could have made my move a worse experience.

I hired them to move from New York to Illinois. The movers for the New York portion were from New Jersey and did not know how to move out a New York apartment. They would not even try to fit into the two spaces that we were holding with a motorcycle/car immediately outside my apartment.

Since they couldn’t find other parking outside my apartment, I was charged an additional $1,000 dollars for a “long carry” move. It took me a half an hour to get someone on the phone from the moving company to explore if there were any other options before having to resign to the fact that this was my only option.

They also charge you $75 for each additional stair after 10 which they do not at all make clear when they are hounding you to sign the contract.

I paid an additional $180 for packing materials and full packing service. When my items finally arrived 28 BUSINESS days later, three items (~$1,200 value) were broken beyond use and my floor lamp was not delivered at all.

Finally, Green Leaf Moving Group includes in their email outreach that your items are estimated to arrive between 3-15 business days. However, even though that is prominent in their email, their contract says 30 business days so there is no way to enforce the 3-15 timeframe they promote. When I reached out to them about this, they said I could reach out to the carrier service directly.

They only provide for one day notice prior to movers arriving. I received a call at 3pm the day before the movers would be arriving at 8am the next day to my new location in Illinois.

The movers in Illinois would only allow for payment via cash or a money order from the post office which was not the case in New York and was not relayed to me prior to that 3pm call.

I strongly do not recommend this moving company. They truly made an already stressful time worse. It took over a month for my items to be delivered and several arrived broken.

Awful Experience - Bait and Switch

The worst. They low ball and when it's just days away and you no longer have time to line up another they double the price on you. Oh, they forgot to ask is your dresser just one bank or more, or does your mattress have a box spring or bed frame have more than a headboard. Seriously they double the price. The next best part if the company that shows up to move you. They also quote it and charge you the real price and you have to pay the deposit over. You find out you worked with a broker and you are screwed. Either walk away and scramble (I made calls to find out I couldn't quickly find another mover) or pay in cash another 50% down and in cash the balance. Oh and you must sign off on crappy no insurance and you can't have your stuff unless you pay the balance first. And guess what? Yeah you are right. They lost and broke a lot of stuff. And everyone is like oh well but you. You, like me will be freaking out that you were so impulsive and silly to sign up and believe them. Completely bait and switch and take advantage of senior citizens.

Criminals

New Leaf Moving Group is the worst experience with movers to date, as a retired veteran of the Army I would advise any service member of the military to use this company whatsoever, active or retired. First and foremost, they're nothing more than a broker, their sales pitch is nothing but lies, for instance they will tell all 3rd party movers are vetted...that's the first lie! The dispatched truck was late and a rental which gave me cause for concerns, from the beginning and driven by the only employee from Aegis Relocation James. James was not prepared and did not have any tie down straps and stated so initially. No covers for furniture, bedding or shrink wrapping whatsoever. No tools whatsoever, I had to drive to storage and get my tools to help them.

My wife had to go to the store, Lowe's etc., to purchase bed covers and furniture covers and bubble wrapping materials. Individuals (three) that showed up where contracted that day as sub-contractors. One individual was elderly man, one could not handle heavy furniture and caused a lot of damage to my walls and stairwell. Another individual just got off an 8-hour shift. I give them credit for trying their best, but not the professionals' movers I anticipated. We had to help them a great deal with concern for how our household goods where being loaded. No real load planning everything was a hip-shoot! In the end I requested an inventory of our household goods, and to our shock no inventory was taken. James simply stated that what is on the truck will be delivered? All these concerns were communicated to Mr. Frank Geivlis, who simply replied "excellent thank you for the information. We also have pictures for the records and a copy of your contract executed". This is disgraceful, the services sold to us is criminal and represents extremely poorly of this New Leaf Moving Group. I am requesting BBB and my legislators in South Carolina and Florida to ensure this does not happen to anyone ever again.

I Trusted New Leaf Moving

I trusted New Leaf Moving Group with my home, my lifetime items that mean the world to me. I have moved 4 times in the last 7 years using Two Guys and Syracuse moving companies with no problem.

The people at new leaf were helpful, provided a good price, trustworthy voice and promise. In addition, the timing was great for my cross country move so I went with them.

I am 65 years old and can somewhat afford the loss of inanimate objects. But trust and a good job done are things that should be strived for and its unfortunate New Leaf Moving has not followed these basic company ideals.

When I received the approximately 480 Sq ft group of boxes and Items I had sent from Connecticut, 45 of the 60 boxes were damaged. The 65” TV was broken and the box I paid extra for was not on the TV when I received it. The clothes rack, bicycle and metal utility shelves were all damaged, as well as numerous items in the damaged boxes. When I contacted New Leaf Moving Group to put in a claim they sent me to a Moving Claim company which requires you to buy a “Moving Claim Package” to process my loss and damage claim, WOW.

I am not paying for a claim package, I just want other people to know the New Leaf Moving Group will not back their business and should be held accountable for their inability to move a family safely and honestly.

Terrible moving company!

Absolutely do not use new leaf moving company! This company made moving cross country an absolutely miserable and difficult process.

To start, I received what sounded like a great quote where they took a detailed inventory. Once I paid the deposit, the mismanagement nightmare began. First, they tried to move up my moving day by two days from my scheduled time frame with little to no notice after I had already set up reserved parking for the movers and organized with my landlord for the specified time range we had agreed upon for their already very large multi-day pickup window.

When the movers actually came, my quote INCREASED by $2,500 dollars and basically just had to accept it. Additionally, their contracted company (Hayks transportation) refused to allow me to accept any moving insurance other than the bare minimum 60cents per pound.

The moving company delivered my stuff over a month later than my delivery date. They stringed me on by repeatedly saying it was coming on this near upcoming date, and that date would pass and I would have no information about where on earth my things are and why it still isn't here until I would call new leaf again. New leaf moving would not reach out to provide any updates or help figure out what was happening even when they promised to do so. They were incredibly hard to reach on the customer service line, and the few times I did talk to someone they would just direct me to the contracted moving company's phone number instead of dealing with it themselves like a professional company would.

Finally when my stuff was finally delivered, multiple pieces over furniture were damaged, and they lost MY ENTIRE MATTRESS AND BEDFRAME, as well as many moving boxes and a couple smaller pieces of furniture. New leaf was absolutely useless in resolving these problems; they did no work to contact the contracted moving company and simply directed me to file a claim. They were unsympathetic and unhelpful, and worst of all, by being a broker they snakily work their way out of any liability despite the fact that I paid them a large sum of money for my move. When I first booked the new leaf moving company, it was completely unclear and hidden that the company hired a separate moving company to actually do the physical move and didn't do it themselves. This company is a completely incompetent group of morons that steal your money and do absolutely nothing right by their customers.

Horrible! PLEASE STAY AWAY!

This is the quote that I was originally given by Mr John Campbell in the amount of $8,958.16. And I had already paid a deposit of $3,468 for the original quote of $8,958.16. However, the day of my move (6/23/2022), New Leaf did not honor the original quote and instead wanted to charge me $17,000 with two separate reductions down to $15,666. After I refused the $15,666, the movers who may not have even been affiliated with the New Leaf company as they stated they were from PROSPERITY or something similar. The foreman himself came with a Tesla and the 3 workers came with a very small UHaul truck knowing I had a 20x20 storage unit, foreman called his boss and reduced it to $14,000 and change. I refused it again since it was not the original written quote given by New Leaf. The foreman that came to the storage unit today, asked for money order or cash. I refused their services. Shortly after I got an email from New Leaf stating that my deposit will be forfeited because I’m canceling the move. I replied to their email by explaining why I was refusing their services. Soon after I responded to their refusal email, I realized that they deleted my original contract. I was no longer able to access my original contract by clicking on the link that was provided to me by the New Leaf. Earlier, I had taken a screen shot of first page and am keeping it as a proof. I have all the proof that what New Leaf is doing is completely illegal. Looking at reviews online carefully, I realized that many people have been scammed. They put customers in desperate situation and then up their price on the day of the move. What New Leaf is doing is fraudulent and I hope they get caught for ripping people off. Please do not trust New Leaf with your hard earned money. Thank you for reading this.

Terrible experience

Worst moving experience ever! The company in San Antonio they used was very professional but when we got to Alabama the company who unloaded was terrible! The driver hired a couple of guys off of Craigslist who barely had any moving experience. The driver was incredibly rude to these 2 men and one of them walked off the job. They took forever and they put a lot of our items in the wrong location. Many of our things were damaged or broken. On top of it all the move cost 7,000 more than we were quoted and I had gone over the inventory very thoroughly in the beginning. When we called to complain of course they didn't do anything about it. Stear clear of this company. They are a broker and you don't know who is actually going to do the move! They assured us they only used professional companies but this is not true. This is by far the worst moving experience I've ever had!

Bait and switch - broken items - drug use - Broker - STAY AWAY

After an initial quote of $18k, we were charged over $39k!! We experienced negligent staffing, disorganization and unpreparedness, lack of professionalism, timelines, reliability and problem solving, and even illicit drug use. Six

days before the move, New Leaf they called and told us we wouldn't fit in the size truck we ordered and pressured us to purchase additional space (that we did not need but paid for). Unloading our household items on August 2022 we found more than 20% of our items broken, many of which are our most precious items which have been collected over two decades from countries around the world.

We had paid extra for special packing of our baby grand piano (arrived broken with instrument mangled and in pieces), our life sized terra cotta statue (arrived in irreparable pieces), custom sofa (frame broken in 4 places), bbq grill (crushed) and chandeliers busted as they were packed with no wrapping by last minute POST MY ADDRESS ON CRAIGSLIST helpers who were snorting cocaine from their phones in my garage!

The entire experience was a nightmare. They will not respond to our calls and now are ignoring my lawyer. AVOID THIS BROKERAGE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

My husband and I have lived in four foreign countries and moved 14 times in 25 years both internationally and domestically. We have NEVER experienced a relocation as disastrous, mismanaged, and shocking as this one.

So appreciative

I don’t think I’ve ever really taken the time to sit down and write a review for a company but I’m very appreciative of New Leaf Moving Group and the hard work they put into making my belongings were safe. We didn’t have a far move. We only moved one state away but it was too big of a job for my husband and I to do on our own so we decided to hire professionals. We had never used New Leaf before but they came highly recommended to us and I enjoyed the way the staff conducted themselves on the phone. When it was all said and done they did an excellent job with everything and we are so pleased with the price we paid. I just wanted to take a minute to let anyone out there know that this company is both trustworthy and highly skilled.
